GOALS OF THE IN-TRAINING EXAMINATION

1. Provide a pertinent and high quality examination emphasizing current knowledge and critical thinking;

2. Provide timely feedback of test results to residents and Program Directors;

3. Identify areas of resident deficiency and/or weakness in general thoracic, adult and pediatric cardiac topics;

4. Provide suggested materials for remedial study;

5. Identify for Program Directors topics requiring further educational effort.
